Semester 1 Final Study Guide
- Know the steps of the scientific method
- Define all anatomical directional terms and use them to describe a wound on a body diagram
- Label all body cavities
- Explain each level of organization of the body and how they work together
- Construct an analogous levels-of-organization chart to the human body
- Explain what homeostasis is and how the body uses feedback loops to maintain homeostasis
- Describe the 4 different types of body tissue, their function and their locations in the body
- Label different structures of the skin on a diagram
- Describe the functions of different structures in the skin, including (but not limited to): melanin, sweat glands, pores, melanocytes, each layer, sebaceous glands and arrector pili muscles
- Describe the differences between the symptoms of each level of burn
- Label all bones covered in class on the skeleton, including the 4 types of bones
- Label the anatomy of a long bone and understand the function of each structure
- Label the different muscles in the body, as discussed in class
- Answer questions based on the 7 steps of muscle contraction
- Label the parts of a muscle and describe the function of each part
